NAIJA DON ENTER ONE CHANCE

This phrase, ‘you don enter one on chance’ became prevalent in the county’s lingua some few years back. There was a time when some criminal elements took advantage of unwary road travelers by calling out to them claiming there is just one more seat to be occupied in the bus for onward movement to the destination. Unsuspecting passengers will not realize it is a syndicate plot to rob them off their valuables. Since then, any one that finds himself in a scenario whereby you are made to part withy property or loss of some form, you are then dismissed with that statement in a rather sympathizing tone.

It is however pitiable that not just individuals experience this, but an entity such as a nation can find themselves in that situation. This is what I believe is the case of Nigeria at present. The fact that, our president has been absent for a month now, with the petty reason shrouded in nonsensical propaganda thereby concealing the true state of the number citizen. I will try my best to leave out other numerous issues the nation is grappling with and dwell on this matter of presidential absence. Prior to the election in 2015, that brought this government to power, some in the opposition raised the issue about the health of the then candidate in our president. Against visible reason, many Nigerians that supported him cynically brushed aside this observation. Back then, there were fears that his health was frail, and might prevent him from effectively carrying out his duties or that he might even die in office or. This fear might just be confirmed with the way the matter of his extended medical vacation has gone.

So, it is the imperative of the people to decide now and determine where this leads, as history might just repeat itself in the presidency after the case of late former president, Umaru Yar’adua . in a decent society where power is not so enriching and glamorized, Buhari does not have to be told to resign on grounds of ill health, and the course of the constitution takes place in finding a replacement, but if the inevitable happens and he has to pay the ultimate sacrifice in power, then indeed, we have entered one chance o.
